Olympic AquaBike

We know sometimes the running legs aren’t there, so this year the Bluewater Triathlon is pleased to introduce the Olympic AquaBike.

The Olympic AquaBike features a 1.5 km swim and a 40 km bike

It is open to solo athletes.

The swim is parallel shore swim in the clean waters of Lake Huron. The water temperatures in past years have averaged 21C, wetsuits have been allowed in past years. The swim will be cancelled if the lake is rough making it unsafe for the athletes or volunteers. The swim has been cancelled four times in the thirty one year history of the event. If the swim is cancelled, the Triathlon will be converted to a Duathlon.

The bike is a very fast flat paved 40 km out and back course though the low traffic roads of Lambton County. There will be a lead pace car, a trail vehicle and a roving SAG wagon to supply technical assistance. The course is well marked with volunteers at each intersection and turn.

We will be using computer chip timing.

All athletes receive a unique themed Technical T shirt as part of the registration, as well as access to the famed post race feast.
